A Couple Trips Down!

Just a quick catch-up post. I am still State-side but have accomplished my first flight and road-trip of the Spring/Summer. More coming next week! This next one will actually be my first solo road-trip, and though it will only be a few hours I’m a little bit nervous…

A comparison shot of the wing of the plane – with the crooked horizon!

On an inspirational note: when I went up in the plane last week, I took some pictures of the wing during takeoff. It was gray and cloudy, but once we reached our cruising altitude above the clouds it was blue and sunny. I was trying to take another picture of the blue sky for comparison and was having trouble matching the angle from my first picture but couldn’t understand why. The angle of my seat according to the window and the wing had not changed. That’s when I realized it was the horizon: when it was cloudy I couldn’t see it, but once I was out of the storm I was able to use it as a touchpoint again, and I was lining up my camera so the horizon was, as it should be, horizontal.

I guess we all need a few things in life to anchor our perspective, huh? It’s good to know they don’t disappear just because we can’t see them for a bit.
