Oh… running.
I thought it might be time for an update on my running adventures. I’ll be posting soon about how I got into running in the first place, etc.
For now let’s pick up after Iznik. I was able to run regularly for a few weeks, and then work took me away for an extended period of time. I squeezed in a few runs here and there, but it was tough.
When I got home I started on Hal Higdon’s Marathon Training Plan, which has been a great guideline for my training. The three-mile runs were THE WORST though – just long enough to be awful after not training, short enough that I never fully got warmed up. I stayed pretty consistent, minus one little week-long trip, and I was starting to really hit my groove.
Then the small cold I brought back from my mid-summer trip turned into bronchitis and a sinus infection. Not really great training sidekicks.
So as of today, I am sidelined, but hoping to be better soon.
I also will unfortunately not be able to run the Istanbul Marathon this fall, because family obligations call me back.
But I don’t give up that easily.
Stay tuned : later this week I will be announcing my new race! I am really pumped, and I’m excited to keep sharing the journey with you, even if the destination ends up being a different place.
