Parcell’s Bakery is possibly my favorite doughnut stop in the entire world. Located in Draffenville, Kentucky just a few miles from I-24, it’s a great place to drop in and grab some delicious and local flavor.
The doughnuts are made fresh every morning, and it’s less than $10 for a dozen. That’s including filled long-johns, maple-bacon-topped, jelly-filled and all kinds of other options. These things are so good it’s hard to stop at just one. I rarely manage it.
Parcell’s is a cute local business, full of color and friendly staff ready to hand you fried deliciousness in whatever stripe you desire. If you’re looking to save some money you can go for the day-olds, or if doughnuts aren’t your speed you can grab a cookie or cupcake. But you should also go get your head checked out, because the doughnuts are SO GOOD.
I even got to grab a picture of the owner, Daniel Slayden. The Slayden family is very active in the community and have built several successful businesses. I love investing in a local business and knowing the money I’m spending there is helping to build more opportunities in a small town!
My top recommendation is the chocolate iced glazed, but let’s be real, it’s hard to go wrong at Parcell’s. Whether you’re hanging out or grabbing one for the road, go eat some doughnuts! Then maybe go for a run.
What do you think is the best type of doughnut? Do you have a favorite local bakery near you?
