Graeters ice cream is one of my favorite parts about being in Northern Kentucky (aside from all the lovely people, obviously).
The details make it at Graters. Their shops all keep up this cute ice cream parlor vibe that reminds me of grabbing cones in the summer with my grandparents in the ’90s (you know, the old days). It’s a little pricey, but then again quantity-wise it feels like they dump about half a carton of ice cream in the cone for you, so I guess it evens out.
I always get the black raspberry chip, a signature flavor at Graeters, and something you can’t always find elsewhere. The ice cream itself if delicious and smooth, but the piece de resistance is really the chips. By some mystery of science they make the most delicious, chocolatey, SOFT chocolate chips.
That’s right folks. Somehow the folks at Graeters have figured out how to stick chocolate into frozen ice cream and have it come out melt-in-your-mouth ready instead of rock hard. I don’t understand it, and I don’t think I want to. I’d rather think of it as frozen confectionery magic.
My friends with my both grabbed chocolate chip cookie dough and no one was disappointed. Well, except maybe my friend who went for the double scoop and then couldn’t finish it because it’s just so much ice cream.
I picked the chocolate-dipped cone, but the chocolate on the cones seems to be different then the stuff in the ice cream and it is very inferior. So it looks really cute in the picture but I don’t think it’s worth the premium.
Man, now I want ice cream. I bet you do too.
What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream? Do you prefer it in a cone or a dish?
