The city where we live in Azerbaijan is perched on a peninsula, overlooking the sea. Just slightly to the North, the Caucus Mountains stretch down, skimming the horizon in the distance.
This beautiful vista is the inspiration for Mountains + Sea, the inaugural piece of the Make Joy | Wearable Art collection.

To create Mountains + Sea, I started with the swirling waves through the bottom of the picture, letting the intricate swirls set the tone and anchor the image. The mountains came next. The sun obscured partly by a cloud was the most difficult choice stylistically, but with some helpful consultation I nailed this one down.
